Terms of Service

Turnscribe is operated by Jesus G, an individual/sole trader ("we", "us"). By using Turnscribe ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Turnscribe is a free online tool that transcribes audio and video content from public URLs using OpenAI Whisper AI. No account or payment is required to use the basic service.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Submit URLs to content you do not have the right to transcribe.
  • Use the Service to process content that violates copyright, privacy laws, or platform terms of service.
  • Attempt to overload, reverse-engineer, or exploit the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Use automated bots or scripts to abuse the free service beyond reasonable personal use (use the API instead).
  • Submit URLs to content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others.
3. Intellectual Property

Turnscribe does not claim ownership of the content you transcribe. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to transcribe and use the content from the URLs you submit. The transcription output is provided for your personal or professional use.

4. Plans and Service Limits

Turnscribe is offered under different plans, each with its own duration limit per transcription and monthly transcription count:

  • Starter (guest, no account): up to 15 minutes per transcription. No monthly limit on the number of transcriptions, but transcriptions are not saved to an account.
  • Free (registered account): up to 60 minutes per transcription, and up to 100 transcriptions per calendar month. Up to 200 transcriptions may be kept saved at a time.
  • Premium: up to 10 hours per transcription, and up to 500 transcriptions per calendar month. Up to 2000 transcriptions may be kept saved at a time.

Duration limit: if the content you submit is longer than your plan's per-transcription limit, Turnscribe will transcribe only the portion up to that limit rather than rejecting the request outright; the result will indicate that the transcription was shortened due to your plan's limit.

Monthly count: any transcription that completes successfully -- including one shortened for exceeding your plan's duration limit -- counts as one transcription toward your monthly count. Failed or errored attempts do not count. Once your monthly count is reached, you may purchase additional, non-expiring transcriptions as an add-on, or upgrade your plan, to continue transcribing that month. Monthly counts reset at the start of each calendar month.

File uploads (any plan) must not exceed 10 MB in size; larger files will be rejected. Create a free account to access Free or Premium limits.

5. API Usage

API access requires a Premium account and is subject to the same per-transcription duration limit and monthly transcription count as your plan (see Section 4). If you use the Turnscribe API, you must:

  • Keep your API key confidential and not share it publicly.
  • Use the API within reasonable rate limits to ensure fair access for all users.
  • Contact us if you anticipate high-volume usage so we can accommodate your needs.

API keys that are not linked to an account are limited to 15 minutes of audio per request. If you need more, please contact us at [email protected].

We reserve the right to revoke API keys that are misused or shared publicly.

6. Billing and Payments

Paid plans (Premium subscription) and add-on transcription packs are billed through Polar Software, Inc. ("Polar"), our reseller and Merchant of Record, who handles payment collection, invoicing, and sales tax/VAT where applicable. Polar's own buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled from Plan & Billing in your account. See our Refund Policy for cancellation and refund terms.

7. Service Availability

Turnscribe is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without prior notice.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that transcriptions will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality, background noise, and language complexity.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Turnscribe and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities.

10. Third-Party Content and Links

Turnscribe processes content from third-party platforms (YouTube, TikTok, etc.). We are not affiliated with these platforms and are not responsible for their content, availability, or terms of service. You are responsible for complying with the terms of any platform whose content you submit.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes.
